Tell us about who your character is and what someone’s first impression would be upon meeting them.
Claude von Riegan comes across as someone who doesn’t take things seriously. He carries himself in a very laid back demeanor and doesn’t always show the ‘appropriate’ amount of respect. Claude is the sort that creates nicknames for people from time to time and doesn’t really care for titles, so he might almost come across as though he is talking down about those who do take things too seriously. Or those that take themselves too seriously. He’s definitely known as a schemer; Claude always appears as though he has something going on behind his fake smiles that don’t quite reach his winking eyes.
They aren’t exactly wrong first impressions either. Claude is certainly a schemer since he has quite a bit to hide and has always had to protect himself. Almyrans aren’t beloved by those in Fodlan and the fact that he is a prince of Almyra isn’t something that would go over well. Of course the fact that his mother is from Fodlan also doesn’t sit right with many Almyrans either. Even “Claude” is a name given to him by his grandfather so that people won’t discover his ties to Almyra. Khalid, which is his birth name, has always had to deal with the discrimination and even attempts on his own life. This is why his appearance and demeanor are tailored a certain way - so that no one can ever truly understand his motives. It’s so that no one realizes how particularly sharp that mind of his is or the fact that he is observing everything around him to see how the winds will blow.
What is a driving force your character has? What goals do they have, what motivates them, etc?
Claude, or Khalid, has really only one great ambition - to open the world up. He is a child of two countries, two different cultures that absolutely hate one another. Yet his father, the King of Almyra, and his mother, a noble of House Riegan, found love with each other. What drives Claude, what everything he does revolves around, is setting up the stage to bring the world together. He goes to the monastery looking for power and strength that he’ll need to be able to become the king in Almyra. Then participating in the war had been to establish stability and, quite frankly, to make Byleth the ruler of a unified Foldan. By doing these things, it will help him try to bring Almyra and Foldan together in the future when he becomes king.
On the surface, it might sound like he is doing this all for his own benefit and there is a degree of that which is true. However, at the end of the day? What Khalid really wants is a world that has an open mind when it comes to other people and other cultures. He wants to help create a world that will accept one another for who they are. At the moment he sees people that put too much importance on bloodlines, crests, and where someone is born. To him, the world shouldn’t be that way. Claude wants to bridge the gaps in understanding and wants to foster cooperation between all countries and peoples.
What he wants is a brighter tomorrow for everyone.
On a less grand level, Claude also is insanely curious. He is always driven to find answers to things that he doesn’t know. Khalid isn’t the sort of person that can just leave a good mystery alone. He absolutely has to know! At the same time, he doesn’t mind working for it or coming up with new angles on how he can get secrets out of others.
What are their flaws as a character? What is something they've messed up, or have done that they regret?
In general, Claude isn’t someone that lives with many regrets, if any outside of one. He is not someone that trusts others- this is both a flaw and something that Claude kind of wishes he could give more readily. While Claude will fight alongside someone, he does not trust that people - even some of his closest friends - will not use certain information against him. However, he does wish that he could share those secrets he holds close to his chest. Claude wants to believe that peoples’ opinions won’t change when they learn that he is half Almyran, but he just can’t bring himself to. Thus he keeps those secrets and instead apologizes for not being able to be transparent. Additionally, Claude mentions that he really only commits to things for his own personal gain or reasoning - to further his own dream.
What is something unique and interesting about them, or what is a fun little tidbit that sets them apart from the crowd?
He is not the biggest fan of sweets! Most of his preferred foods are rich foods that also involve wild game or fish. Claude also engages in meditation every morning.

Minor Crest of Riegan: Inherited bloodline trait. Restores some HP when using combat arts. Enables the use of hero’s relics without turning into a monster.
Failnaught: A bow that is a Hero's Relic (Crest of Riegan). Crest wielder can use the combat art “Fallen Star.”
Sword of Begalta: Sacred weapon (Crest of Riegan) that restores HP every turn - effect increases with the Crest of Riegan.

ARMADA SELECTION
Claude would fit better with Corsairs than he would Paladins. While what he wants, ultimately, is something that better aligns with Paladins, it is his methodology that really just doesn’t. Claude is someone that will fight dirty and has. He’s not always a big fan of playing by the rules or even using conventional methods. It’s for this reason that he would make a better Corsair.
